Abstract. This essay examines the life cycle of the Guido brothers, who operated in Lecce in the footwear and textile industries between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Skilled management and the introduction of suitable machinery led to the initial economic success, which was then followed by a decline due in part to difficult economic conditions.
